Strawberry Season!

Yay! Strawberry season has arrived. I bought a whole flat from the farmer's market last Saturday and have been enjoying the tastes of summer. Cereal with strawberries cut into it tastes so decadent. I only buy strawberries fresh when they are from farmers in-state. So when the season hits it's exciting!

I sorted them once I got home and boiled the mushy ones into a strawberry sauce which was amazing on my french toast.

I'm using the juice of the sauce to add some flavor to my selzer making it a yummy strawberry spritzer. And once I couldn't eat anymore fresh strawberries I have been washing them, drying them off, cutting the tops, slicing them in half and freezing them on a tray to be transfered into jars a bit later.
Frozen Local Strawberries are Awesome!
Next step... Learn how to do canning. I would love to make jam. I even bought a book on it. But it all requires so much sugar...
